    Principal's Message

I am honored to serve as the Principal of Ekota School, a truly special place in the Mill Woods community, and I extend a warm welcome to you and your family.

In the Cree language, Ekota means "special place," a name that perfectly reflects our commitment to creating a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment where every child belongs and can thrive.

At Ekota School, we proudly offer inclusive programming for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6, and specialized Interactions classes for students with Autism.

We believe that education is a powerful partnership between the school and home. Your involvement—whether through our active School Council, or by engaging in your child’s daily learning—makes a significant difference in their success. We encourage all families to check SchoolZone regularly for the latest school news and updates.

Your children are our greatest asset, and we look forward to partnering with you to ensure they feel supported, challenged, and inspired throughout their journey at Ekota School. Together, we make amazing things happen.

    Your in partnership,

    Carla Adams

    Principal

    WELCOME:

For the 2025 - 2026 school year, with the exception of Kindergarten, Ekota School is full in planned classes in the regular program. We will now only accept resident students in Grades 1 to 6 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

Our name is rooted in the Cree language, meaning "special place," which reflects our commitment to providing a "special place to raise a family."
